A vacancy has arisen for the position of a Tendering Officer within Joseph Cachia & Son Limited, a subsidiary company within the M. Demajo Group. The Company has developed strong business relationships with leading suppliers some of whom it has teamed up with, to successfully bid for large-scale tenders involving complex infrastructural projects in the field of the environment, energy and security. Joseph Cachia & Son Limited also supplies and distributes money-handling devices to commercial and industrial entities and queuing systems amongst others. Furthermore, Joseph Cachia & Son Limited has a fully-trained technical team providing a 24-hour round the clock maintenance and support service.
The selected candidate will be reporting to the Sales & Contracts Manager and will be performing the following duties amongst others:
- Sourcing products and actively participating in the preparation and submission of compliant and competitive bids and proposals within stipulated deadlines for public and private sector projects;
- Reviewing tender documents, coordinating with internal teams, preparing pricing strategies, ensuring compliance with client requirements, and contributing to successful contract acquisition;
- Coordinate with departments (technical, legal, procurement, finance) for necessary inputs;
- Assisting the Sales & Contracts manager of the company with the planning, organizing and controlling of all operations related to company projects and local tendering procedures both EU and Government funded;
- Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to support pricing strategies;
- Monitor tender portals and identifying market segments for new opportunities;
- Prepare risk assessments and highlight commercial and contractual risks;
- Ensure adherence to company policies and client requirements in all bid submissions;
- Provide post-tender clarifications and negotiate contracts when required;
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders;
- Liaising with customers through sales calls and presentations;
- Travelling overseas for fairs, training, etc when required.
The ideal candidate must:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Commerce, or related field;
- 3 years of experience in tendering, bidding, or contracts (industry-specific experience preferred);
- Strong knowledge of tendering processes and documentation;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail and time management;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel);
- Experience with tender portals;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- Have good analytical skills;
- Be able to work on his/her own initiative;
- Own personal vehicle;
- Be willing to travel overseas for fairs and training.
