M. Demajo (Services) Limited, a subsidiary within the M. Demajo Group, is currently seeking to recruit a proactive and responsible individual in the position of In-House Junior Legal Counsel.
The successful candidate will have an active role (commensurate to the applicant’s level of experience) in ensuring legal compliance and limiting risk exposure within the Group’s operations and long-term business goals, primarily offering counsel on legal matters, and collaborating closely with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in handling day-to-day legal or corporate tasks;
- Offering professional support and advice on various legal matters;
- Provide support in drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements;
- Developing and revising policies, procedures and practices to ensure legal compliance;
- Assist in analysing and identifying legal risks;
- Be requested to undertake the duties of a company secretary;
- Be involved in the preparation and filing of statutory documents;
- To coordinate and attend internal and external meetings as required;
- Set up, organise and maintain paper and electronic filing systems;
- Keep abreast of legal developments, particularly in relation to corporate, commercial and compliance obligations, and inform management of any changes that may have implications for the Group;
- Assist in compliance matters including AML/CFT and Data Protection.
Requirements:
- Possession of LL.B. (Hons)/LL.D./M.Adv. Degree (candidates in their final year of University may be considered);
- Possession of a Warrant to practice law in Malta or in the process of obtaining same;
- Overall broad legal knowledge;
- Self-driven and highly motivated;
- A professional mindset and excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong problem solving, presentation and organisational skills;
- Good judgment and analytical skills;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Time management;
- A high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
