Multi Packaging Limited is seeking to recruit a full-time Operator. The selected candidate’s will be an integral part of the converting team where teamwork and effective communication is key. S/he must be an energetic individual, who can work on his/her own initiative in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, whilst maintaining the highest standard of good practice.
Overall Purpose:
To oversee and operate the filtration plant, Baler and Glue systems to ensure their effective Operation, resulting in the correct treatment and processing of starch and ink effluents in compliance with environmental regulations, processing & disposal of carton waste and positive operation of the Corrugator Glue Systems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities will include performing a wide range of tasks that include:
Embracing the company’s culture, based on values of integrity, respect, accountability, and excellence;
Ensuring that correct operation of the Glue System and monitor it’s performance;
Ensuring that correct operation of the Filtration Plant and monitor it’s performance;
Ensuring the correct mix of Glue is readily available at all times;
Monitoring the Glue Viscosity as per procedure;
Performing beaker testing and sample collection as required, analyse results, document findings, and log updates on the system accordingly;
Keeping stock control on materials and chemicals used in the filtration system and inform their direct superior when re-ordering is required;
Ensuring the correct operation of the Baler System, entailing monitoring:
The correct Conveying and Collection of carton Waste to the Baler
Compiling Waste data as per procedure
Coordinating the selling and dispatch of the Carton Bales with the Certified Waste Broker;
Performing routine inspections on equipment at various stages of the process;
Keeping an open communication with departments feeding wastewater to the filtration system, as well as departments reusing the effluent water;
Assuring that cleaning and backwashing of filters is performed as per needs;
Maintaining clear and accurate operational logs and reports;
Communicate directly with plant/maintenance technicians whenever the needs arise;
Assuring that waste material is logged and disposed of according to policies and procedures;
Setting up material and jobs on machines as specified in the supporting documentation;
Assisting when the Corrugator machine is down and when required;
Complete all the necessary data entry documentation associated with each job;
Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data and Quality Data;
Performing the necessary troubleshooting and adjustments;
Adhering to the production schedule, make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals and to report any unusual scheduling issues to the Supervisor;
Maintaining good housekeeping and a clean and organized workspace;
Complying with all company policies and procedures including rules and regulations related to Health & Safety;
Be willing to learn and to participate in training provided by the company;
Providing support and necessary training to the machine team;
Communicating relevant information to supervisors on a timely basis;
Ensuring that all work processes set by the company are adhered to;
Actively participate in seeking to improve and advance within the company;
Continually keep oneself updated on developments within the area of work;
Performing any other duties which may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year’s working experience in a manufacturing environment;
Ability to communicate in Maltese and/or English;
Willingness to learn and to participate in training provided.
The appropriate candidate needs to be highly responsible, reliable, and meticulous, with an ability to work efficiently under pressure.
